La aldea kazaja de Karatas ha sido subyugada durante mucho tiempo por un jefe criminal llamado Poshaev. Proporciona vivienda y trabajo a los lugareños, pero ejecutará sin piedad a cualquiera que se atreva a oponérsele. Esta es la lección que el pobre Arzu está a punto de aprender de primera mano: su esposa Karina ha informado a la policía sobre los crímenes que se están cometiendo allí. Arzu es un lisiado; ahora tiene que criar a su pequeña hija solo. Está tan indefenso y afligido que ni siquiera parece estar contemplando la venganza. Poshaev lo toma bajo su protección y le ofrece el puesto de guardia en una obra de construcción. Pronto Arzu tiene la oportunidad de demostrar su lealtad y se convierte en la mano derecha de Poshaev. Pero, ¿dónde radica la verdadera lealtad de Arzu, con su jefe o con la idea de justicia?

ADILKHAN YERZHANOV

AdilkhanYerzhanov, director de cine y guionista, nació en la ciudad de Djezkazgan, Kazajstán, el 7 de agosto de 1982.
En 2009 se graduó de la Academia Nacional de las Artes de Kazajistán como director de cine.

AdilkhanYerzhanov ha participado en dos ocasiones en el Programa Oficial del Festival de Cine de Cannes («The Owners», 2014, y «The Gentle Indifference of the World», 2018, Sección Un Certain Regard) y en dos ocasiones en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia (“Orizzonti” / “Yellow Cat”/2020 & “Orizzonti Extra”/ “Goliat / 2022 / Premio “Bisato d’oro” a BerikAitzhanov&DaniyarAlshinov / “Mejores actores””).
